He Yee Dao Karate Association

The martial art we practice is Tae Kwon Do, which is Korean Karate and is purported to be the oldest of all the martial arts. The literal translation of Tae Kwon Do is "The Art of Kicking and Punching."

He Yee Dao, the name of our school, is Chinese for "The Universal Way"; universal because Tae Kwon Do is the most widespread of all the martial arts. The proper pronunciation of He Yee Dao is best explained as follows: Huh E Daho (enunciated as one word). Association was chosen over club or school since association means fellowship, companionship, or organization of persons having common interests and purposes. What better way to explain our group?

Our uniform patch is an original design depicting "The Path to Enlightenment." Note the silver path starting in the darkness of beginning, progressing through the gateway into the golden light of knowledge, and on to infinity, the goal of perfection. On the left side of the gate are the Chinese Characters for He Yee Dao, on the right is script for the same, and surrounding the whole is the English translation, "The Universal Way."

Updates April, 24, 2019

Classes will resume at the Norwood School, Thursday April 25, 2019. Youth class at 6 pm , and Adult/Teen class at 7 pm. New students are welcomed to join at any time.

He Yee Dao on Tuesday April 30, 2019 will begin a four week after school enrichment program of Tae Kwon Do classes at the Trinity school in Massena. Classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday 3:15 pm to 4:15 in the third floor gym.

He Yee Dao "Rolls Heavy" Into Demo Season

A few years back when 10 or 12 of us arrived at a venue to perform a martial arts demonstration for the public, a spectator said "you guys roll heavy". Translation, we came with a lot of participants.

April 6, 2019, we did roll heavy when 27 He Yee Dao students and instructors participated in two public demonstrations at the Norwood school for the Wellness Day and Claire's Fun Fitness Day events. Many thanks to all who made the day a great success and a lot of fun for participants and the over one hundred spectators.

Mark your calendars for the next public demonstration scheduled as follows:
*Thursday May 23, 2019 will be this years on stage Demonstration for the public at the Norwood school. Preparations are now underway. Details will follow.
*Monday May 27, 2019 will participate in the Hogensburg Memorial day parade. We anticipate having a float, marching and providing a brief demonstration at the review stand. Details will follow.

Students from all schools are welcomed to participate.
